Brittany Thomason MSN, NP, ACNPC-AG
Family Nurse Practitioner

Primary Location:
Bakersville
My name is Brittany Thomason. I was born in Mitchell County and have lived in Yancey County my entire life and graduated from Mountain Heritage High School. After high school, I decided to pursue nursing. My mom was a nurse and I got see first hand how rewarding it could be. I obtained my associate’s degree in Nursing at Mayland Community College in 2016 and went to work as an intensive care unit nurse in the Cardiovascular ICU at Mission Hospital. I also began pursuing my bachelor's degree at East Tennessee State University. I worked as an ICU nurse for a little over three years. During this time, I decided to further my education and obtained my master's degree at Vanderbilt University and became a nurse practitioner. In August 2019, I began my journey as a nurse practitioner with Asheville Heart, as part of the cardiovascular surgery team. I enjoyed my time there, but as soon as an opening became available at our local hospital, Blue Ridge Regional, I jumped on the opportunity to provide care to my community.
This job made me realize how desperate our community was for primary care providers to help keep people from needing to be at the hospital. Last year, I decided to make the switch to primary care and have not looked back. I have felt so blessed to be able to care for people in my community. There is nothing more rewarding than making people feel better.
On a personal note, I am married to Brandon Thomason. We have 4 beautiful children. We are very active in our church serving as pastor and pastor’s wife. I enjoy watching my kids play various sports. My favorite past time is reading, I am always up for a good book recommendation.
I am looking forward to serving my community at Bakersville Health Center.
