Warm greetings. I am grateful to be joining the Celo Health Center, and look forward to working with you and your family. I grew up in northern Georgia, in the foothills of the Appalachians, and have lived in many places in pursuit of medical training. Returning to these mountains to live and work in a rural community has been a long-time dream.
As a Family Medicine Physician, I have the great joy of taking care of people during all stages of life, including expecting mothers and their little ones. My approach to health and well-being is guided by two core principles:
Our health is inextricably linked to our environments, both the natural environments and built and cultural environments in which we are immersed. I approach patients holistically, striving to understand the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, relational and environmental components affecting each individual. Influenced by my B.Sc in Environmental Studies, and my training in Lifestyle Medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, I take all of these factors into account when searching for sources of disease, as well as when recommending treatment options.
Each person has the potential and capacity within themselves to reach their health goals. As I build a relationship with my patients, I am able to guide them towards resources to aid them on their journey. I draw from a variety of training and experiences, including my residency training at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Michigan, 200-hour Certification in Integrative Medicine through Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and the Healer’s Art taught by The Remen Institute for the Study of Health and Illness.
In addition to working in healing partnership with my patients, the things that nourish my soul are creating music and poetry, wandering in the woods, tending our garden and hosting gatherings of our beloved community with my husband, Aaron.
I am accepting new patients and offer visits in both English and Spanish.
